Landon Deru

Landon S. Deru, PhD, MBA, ATC/L, is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Kansas Medical Center in the Division of Physical Activity and Weight Management. His research focuses on nutrition, fasting, exercise, and behavioral weight loss interventions, with an emphasis on glycemic control, insulin sensitivity, and metabolic health across diverse clinical populations. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications examining intermittent fasting, macronutrient composition, and lifestyle strategies to improve cardiometabolic outcomes. In addition to his research, he teaches and develops collegiate-level courses in kinesiology and health sciences and provides health coaching within federally funded weight management programs. His work integrates evidence-based nutrition, applied physiology, and translational education to support sustainable health behavior change.
